Michael Goldman, MA, CFP® is founder of Goldman Financial Planning near Portland, Maine. He has been a member of the Garrett Planning Network since 2009. You can read more about his background here.No one is more surprised than Michael at the rapid growth of GoldmanFP. The firm started as a side venture in fall of 2012 to provide hourly, fee-only planning locally, while Michael focused most of his attention on a web startup in financial education, WealthGathering.com. In just four years, Goldman FP grew from a lone CFP in 144 sq feet, to a talented team of six in 1700+ sq feet. Along the way we have stayed true to our vision of providing trustworthy advice to everyday people. In 2015 we helped over 80 new clients with financial planning. In addition, we now serve over 40 ongoing clients on a retainer and AUM basis. Our assets under management are now over $57M and growing at a rate of about $1M per month. In all, we expect to advise clients on about $200M of investments this year. Amid the flurry of growth, we have experimented with how to best serve the needs of our focal clients -- everyday people. We continue to evolve the way we package our offerings, deliver our services, and ensure a great client experience. In addition to growing GoldmanFP, Michael is collaborating with David Weliver, founder of MoneyUnder30.com, to launch an online course called Moneymentals.com. Moneymentals is a practical approach to money management that incorporates behavioral economic principles and Michael's experience coaching hundreds of clients to develop "wealthy habits." Moneymentals will launch in September 2016.
